Hi. I'm Adam Mathes. If you're reading this site you probably already know me in some capacity, and if you don't you probably won't learn much about me from anything I could write in the next few sentences.

I'm 20, currently I'm a sophomore at Stanford where I'm attempting to major in computer science and minor in philosophy. This way I can think clearly about how I'm selling out.

I'm originally from Lincolnwood, Illinois. It's the first suburb north of Chicago. It's suburban enough to make me a sheltered, overprivileged, white guy, but close enough to the city to convince me I'm not a completely spoiled North Shore schmuck.

Like everyone else in America I use cultural consumer goods in a vain attempt to define myself. So here goes - I like cartoons - especially The Powerpuff Girls, The Tick, and old 1940's Golden Age MGM shorts. I read cheesy sci-fi novels, especially Battletech ones, and pretend I'm a punk by listening to the Mr. T Experience.

I'm a big geek - most of my life revolves around playing video games. I used to play PC adventure games, but since it's a dead genre I've switched to 1980's arcade games.

My resume provides the standard details. My writings and web log could probably give you a better sense of who I am, or at least be more entertaining than this bio. And there's the classic study of contrasts - adam and matt, complete with out of date pictures.
