25, 1999 I want very badly to be a super-hero. [from the 100th issue of the Stanford Chapparal] Geoshock is now hosting CPS2 roms. This is a good thing. I have a feeling we may see cps2 emulation this year... Tuesday October
19, 1999 I may have given up on coterming since I don't want to have to care about grades, but it does have the nice added bonus that that it lowers my stress level. But I really really want to be a Mayfield Fellow. It sounds like the coolest opportunity for an aspiring entrepreneurial geek in the whole world. I think Retrogames is my favorite site. Not because it's the best emulation news site. Sites like zophar's or emucamp are probably more regularly updated with more links. But Retrogames has personality. Only Retrogames will regularly have links to things like The Official Rock Paper Scissors Strategy Guide between the latest info about Gameboy Color and Jaguar emulators. Monday October 18, 1999 If you know a substantial amount about encryption and 68k assembly go to cps2shock and help them try and break the Capcom Play System 2 encryption scheme. I would, but I'm not competent enough. If these guys actually succeed, it will only be a matter of time before I'll be able to play all those great cps2 games (Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel Vs. Street Fighter, Street Fighter Alpha 2, etc) through the emulation magic that is mame. Oh, mame, how I love thee. And how I love the thousands of arcade games you emulate. Sunday October 17, 1999 I wish I was as cool as seanbaby. His nes page should be a riot for anyone who wasted his youth playing nintendo games. It's the clips from Nintendo Power that really do it for me. Seanbaby is hosted by Old Man Murray. They used to make smart-ass comments about computer games, but since there really aren't any games worth playing anymore, they just mock the gaming industry and hardcore gaming "community." After my ridiculous attempts to write for the now defunct e-zine eXscape, it's about the only gaming web site I can stomach anymore. I know all too well that the most painful phrase a woman can say is "I just want to be friends." I was in the basement of Green Library last week. I remembered the first time I ever used the Internet was in the little computer cluster in that basement when I was at Stanford for debate institute after my freshman year of high school, 1995. After spending five minutes fruitlessly searching for debate evidence, I realized how much easier it was to find bad porn than useful information. It's amazing how little things have changed in 4 years. I can't decide whether epinions sucks or not. The idea of "reliable" guides seems to be pretty lame. But my idol cam seems to buy it. And peterme, the web design guru, is now working for them, which makes me think I must be missing something, and maybe it doesn't suck. |
