I couldn’t bear to look at the bee stamp icon every time I started my computer, so I decided to delete her user account.

Windows XP asked me if I wanted to keep her files. It offered to save them, and put them in a folder with her name on it on my desktop. It was trying to be helpful, I guess, but just didn’t understand the delicacy of the situation.

I looked through the folder to see if I should send any of it to her, but it was just a handful of mp3s and some Katamari Damacy wallpaper.

I guess she checked out of my computer a long time ago.
