I was thinking about the things that were so well designed I really saw them as beautiful, and had the urge to run BeOS in some sort of wave of nostalgia. (I was an early Be enthusiast, and I think it may be why I am often underwhelmed by Apple's OS X.)

I got BeOS 5 running on one of my older machines.

Somehow the "World of BeOS" text file that is placed on the desktop got placed directly on top of the trash can, so they were occuping the same space.

It was very disheartening.

(It was probably just an unfortunate icon placement issue related to changing the screen resolution, but it was all too true.)
