I’d like to see a video game where you start with all the powers but slowly lose them over the course of the game.
An underlying narrative of so many games is building your character and becoming more powerful, becoming more proficient, doing more and more amazing feats. And finding that fundamentally satisfying.
I think there is unexplored ground in exploring the opposite direction.
What’s it like to have power and lose it?
(One gaming experience that comes to mind is a classic mission from Tie Fighter where you are asked to clear a minefield in a shieldless craft long after you are accustomed to having shields. But — spoiler alert, whatever that game came out over a decade ago — it’s a trap.)
