dakotasmith: ok, i don't do this alot, but you can't put that on the
internet. you can put this sentence here, so that people know i said
something wholly inappropriate, but not the previous sentence. we were
merely talking about [ CENSORED ]
dakotasmith: wait
dakotasmith: that fucked it up, too

So I was trying to sign up for cable online, and filled out all these
forms, and then it says it's going to connect me to LIVECHAT to set up an
appointment time, why, I'm not sure.

The page loads and is clearly broken and not working. Apparently they
don't support Firefox, but don't bother to TELL you that, or degrade
reasonbly, or even give a damned error message.

So I copy the URL into Internet Explorer, and it works, but the guy tells
me I either have to MANUALLY GIVE HIM all the information again... or I
have to fill out all the forms again in Internet Explorer. Also, if I have
him do the forms, I lose out on any promotional offers.

Such amazing service.

I'd get DirectTV instead, but then I'd have to deal with the phone company
to get DSL, and well, that would probably be an even worse headache.

I guess I won't be running out to buy a new iBook or Powerbook any time
soon... but maybe sometime in 2007. If I'm lucky.

I guess the Vaios are pretty nice now anyway.

You may be familiar with Regina, my G4 400mhz original titanium Powerbook
that still chugs along despite itself.

The case has been fractured and missing a corner for a while, and the
power CMOS/something has been dodgy (it's fine if you NEVER SHUT IT DOWN)
but recently things are getting worse.

Something apparently is wrong with the display, so that a single pixel
line of green runs vertically about 1/4 of the way from the right side of
the screen.

And, this one is my fault, I put Regina in a bag on the side of a bed, and
a minute later the bag fell over. "Oh no, it's over," I thought. But it
seemed to be ok. Then, later, I realized that I had finally after all
these years destroyed the hinge that keeps it closed. (This is annoying
for power management issues, sleep, etc.)

But all of that I could deal with. Now, finally, I think I have reached
the last straw. Ever since I got to Mountain View, it makes crazy noises.

Something is wrong with the right speaker. It would be fine if it just
didn't work, but, now, randomly, sporadically, seemingly independent of
anything I do, it makes "interference" static noises. It's really, really,
annoying.
